Simple Sevai Upma with Oinions / Semiya upma


Ingredients:

Wheat Sevai / Wheat based semiya  / Vermicelli - 1cup
Onions - 1, chopped intothin slices
Oil
Mustard seeds
Urad dal and Channa dal - 1 tsp each'
Coriander leaves for garnish
Salt to taste

Instructions:

  • Heat oil in a kadai
  • Add urad dal and channa dal for tempering
  • In a second or two add few mustard seeds
  • when it crackles add chopped onions and saute
  • when they are translucent add the roasted sevai and saute for a while
  • add salt and a cup of hot water - let it cook well in the water
  • keep stirring to avoid burning
  • when the water is almost evaporated, add coriander leaves and turn off the gas
  • you may also use grated fresh coconut for garnish
