Onion – 1, medium sized, chopped
Tomato – 2, chopped
Ginger – 1.5 inch piece
Garlic cloves – 5 to 6
Fresh coconut – ¼ of half a coconut or as per your
preference
Red or green chilies
Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp.
Coriander powder – 2 tbsp.
Cumin powder – ½ tbsp.
Red chili powder – as per preference
Kala goda masala / garam masala – ½ tbsp.
Salt
Oil, mustard and cumin seeds for tempering
Chopped coriander leaves for garnishing
Instructions:
- · Make a fine paste of onion, ginger, garlic, coconut and chilies
- · Heat oil in a khadai, add mustard and cumin seeds
- · When it crackles add the onion paste and all the masala powder ingredients – mix well and stir cook
- · Meanwhile puree the tomatoes and add to the gravy when the raw smell of ginger garlic subsides
- · Add water and let the gravy boil till the raw smell vanishes
- · Add kala ghoda masala, garnish with coriander leaves and serve along with pulao or biryani
