Oats Upma

Ingredients:

Plain, unflavoured Oats – 2 cups
Onion – 1, chopped
Green chilies – chopped
Tomato – 1, chopped
Channa dal – 1 tbsp
Roasted Groundnuts – few
Oil, Mustard and Cumin seeds for tempering
Salt and chilli powder for taste
Water

Instructions:

  • ·         Heat oil in a pan and add channa dal, groundnuts, mustard and cumin seeds
  • ·         When the mustard splitters add chopped onion and green chilies – saute
  • ·         Add tomato, salt and chili powder – cook till the tomato is mushy
  • ·         Add the Oats, mix and saute for few minutes and then add enough quantity water for the oats to cook
  • ·         Oats upma is ready to serve
  • ·         Optional – add chopped coriander leaves and squeeze few drops of lemon juice and mix
