Urulakkilangu Masal / Mashed Potato curry


It’s a very simple, mashed potato recipe, without any masala. It’s very common in Tamil Nadu and always accompanied with Poori or Chapathi.

Ingredients:
Potato – 4 to 5, boiled and half-mashed
Onion – 1, chopped
Tomato – 1, chopped
Green Chilies
Ginger-garlic paste
Curry leaves
Turmeric powder
Salt
Coriander leaves to garnish

Instructions:
  • ·         Heat oil in a kadai, add mustard seeds
  • ·         When it splitters add chopped Onion, Curry leaves, Green Chilies and Ginger – garlic paste
  • ·         Saute till the raw smell vanishes and add tomatoes
  • ·         Add Turmeric powder and Salt – mix
  • ·         Later add half mashed potatoes to the kadai, mix well, add 1 cup of water
  • ·         Let it boil for few mins
  • ·         Garnish with chopped Coriander leaves and serve hot with Poori / Chapathi
