Mutton Kolhapuri

Ingredients:

Mutton - 1/2 kg
Onion - 4
Tomatoes - 2
Green chilies
Curry leaves
Dry coconut / Kopra
Ginger, Garlic
Spices like Cloves, Cardamom, etc
Kolhapuri masala
Chili powder, Salt, Haldi

Steps:

  • Wash the mutton well, drain the water and keep aside
  • Roast chopped onion along with the spices, ginger, garlic and make a paste of it
  • Also make paste of tomatoes, green chilies and curry leaves
  • Powder the pieces of dry coconut
  • Heat oil in a cooker, add mustard seeds and when it splitters add the onion paste - saute well
  • Add Chili powder, Salt, Haldi and Kolhapuri masala - mix well
  • Add tomato paste as well - saute for few mins and then add the mutton pieces
  • Let it cook well till the masalas blend well with the mutton pieces and oil leaves at the sides
  • Now add dry coconut powder, mix, add enough water and cover the lid of the cooker
  • Let it cook in medium flame for 3 whistles
  • Once the pressure is completely out, turn on the burner again and bring the gravy to boil again
  • Adjust masalas as per taste and serve hot with lemon juice and chopped coriander leaves
