Ingredients:
- For the outer covering
- All purpose flour / Maida
- Salt to taste
- Oil- 1 tsp
- Water to knead
- For the stuffing
- Cooking Oil
- Finely chopped Onion
- Finely chopped Cabbage
- Finely chopped Capsicum
- Grated Carrot
- Salt to taste
- Pepper powder
- Soya Sauce - 1 tsp
- Red Chili Sauce - 1 tsp
Instructions:
- For the momos' outer covering knead the above mentioned ingredients to form a firm dough and keep aside for 30 mins covered by a moist cloth to avoid becoming dry
- Now heat oil in a pan and saute the chopped veggies in slightly high flame till they are fried/cooked enough
- Add salt, pepper powder as per taste preference, mix well and
- Add the Soya sauce and Red chili sauce - saute for 2 more minutes and turn off the burner
- Let the stuffing cool down completely
- Make small balls of the dough and roll them into small circles
- The dough for outer covering should neither be very thick nor very thin
- Brush few drops of water on the circles' folding edges which will act like a glue and the momos dont open up
- After brushing the circle's edge with water, add a tsp of the stuffing in the middle and fold it to your desired shape (there are various shapes to choose from the web)
- Once all the momos are ready to be steamed, take a steamer, add required amount of water and turn on the burner
- While the water is heated, grease the steamer plate with oil and place the stuffed and shaped momos
- Steam them for 7 to 10 minutes depending upon the thickness or size of the momos
- When the momos appear shiny it means they are cooked so turn off the burner and serve hot with the Red Momos Chutney
