Whole Moong Dal Masala



Ingredients:

Steamed moong dal – 1 cup
Onion – chopped
Curry leaves
Tomato – chopped
Green Chilies – finely chopped
Ginger – 1 inch piece
Garlic cloves – 4 to 5
Masala ingredients - Turmeric powder, Chili powder, Coriander powder - 1 tbsp. and Cumin powder – ½ tbsp.
Salt
Oil, Mustard and Cumin seeds for tempering
Chopped Coriander leaves

Instructions:

  • ·         Heat oil in a cooking vessel, add mustard and cumin seeds
  • ·         When it crackles, add chopped onion, curry leaves, green chilies, ginger-garlic paste
  • ·         Saute for few minutes and add chopped tomatoes and all masala ingredients – mix well
  • ·         Add the cooked moong dal, salt, required quantity of water and let it boil for 10 mins
  • ·         Turn off the heat, garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with steamed rice or chapathi
