Ingredients:
Pearl Onion (preferable) / big onion –
chopped into small pieces
Tomato – 1, diced
Dry Red Chilies
Tamarind
Roasted Urad dal – 1 tbsp
Fresh Coconut – 1 or 2 inch piece
Salt
Instructions:
- Heat a small frying pan and roast the urad dal and red chilies in low flame until slightly brown in color
- Transfer it to a small chutney mixer-jar and add 1 or 2 tbsp oil to the same kadai
- Add the chopped onion and saute until slightly brownish in color, transfer to the jar
- Then add the diced tomato and saute for few minutes
- Now transfer it to the jar along with a small piece of tamarind, salt and chopped fresh coconut
- Add little water and grind into a smooth chutney
- Serve with Idli/Dosa/Uttappa/Paniyaram (appe)/Adai dosai etc.
