Simple Toor Dal

Ingredients:

Toor dal – 1 cup (Pressure cooked along with few garlic cloves and turmeric powder)
5 Pearl onions – chopped
1 Tomato – chopped
Green chilies – chopped into tiny pieces
Curry leaves
Hing
Oil, Mustard seeds and Cumin seeds
1 tsp each of Coriander powder, Cumin powder
Salt to taste and pinch of sugar
Coriander leaves – chopped

Instructions:
  • ·         Add water to the pressure cooked dal, and mix it until its disintegrated (dal paani) and then add salt and sugar to it – keep aside
  • ·         Heat oil in a vessel and add mustard and cumin seeds
  • ·         When they splitters add hing and immediately add chopped onions, curry leaves and green chilies
  • ·         Sauté for few mins and then add chopped tomatoes and coriander leaves
  • ·         Mix well and add Coriander powder and Cumin powder
  • ·         Mix well and add the prepared dal paani to it
  • ·         Mix well and let it boil for few mins and turn off the burner
