Chicken Manchurian – Gravy


Ingredients:

½ kg boneless chicken – small / medium sized pieces
Spring onion – 2 stalks
Garlic cloves – 2 chopped
Corn flour – 2 tbsp
Pepper powder – 1 ¼ tsp
Salt – 1 ¼ tsp
Sugar – 2 tsp
Soya sauce – 2 tbsp + 1 tsp
Egg – ½ (white and the yolk)
Lemon juice – 1 tsp
Chili powder – 1 tsp
Chili sauce – ½ tbsp

For the Marinade:
Mix Egg, salt 1 tsp, pepper powder 1 tsp, corn flour 1 tsp, sugar 1 tsp, soy sauce 1 tsp – mix it with boneless chicken pieces and marinate for minimum 30 minutes.

Seasoning:
Mix Chili sauce, black pepper ¼ tsp, salt ¼ tsp, soy sauce 2 tbsp, lemon juice, sugar 1 tsp, chili powder

Chili oil:
Boil 1 tbsp chili powder in ½ cup oil

Instructions:
  • -          Heat a thick bottomed Kadai with 1 tbsp oil
  • -          Add chopped garlic and then marinated chicken pieces
  • -          Season little chili powder and cook the chicken pieces in medium flame
  • -          Meanwhile mix seasoning and remaining marinade and keep ready
  • -          Once chicken is fried in the oil, add chopped spring onion, seasoning and water (or chicken stock)
  • -          Cook in medium flame for 15 – 20 mins till chicken is well cooked
  • -          Dissolve remaining corn flour in water and pour into the pan, stirring constantly
  • -          Let it cook for 5 minutes in medium flame, turn off the flame, pour red chili oil on it and add few spring greens for garnish
  • -          Serve with any Fried rice
