Kollu parupu (Horse gram / dal)

Horse gram is very good for health as it reduces Cholesterol in our body. My mom adviced me to prepare it on Saturdays for best results, based on historical sayings. Since I like the taste of the dal I started following it. So here is the recipe, which may seem unique for few who dont know about the gram / dal. But do try if you managed to find the dal.

* Pressure cook the dal with water and salt for 10 mins.
* Allow it to cool.
* Meanwhile heat oil in a kadai, add mustard and cumin seeds, red chilli, chopped onion, curry leaves, turmeric powder, chilli powder, hing, coriander powder and mix well.
* Transfer the cooked dal and this tadka to a mixie jar to make coarse paste of it along with coriander leaves. Dont puree it.
* Add salt if its less and Serve along with Rice.
* We use to add Sesame oil along with it while eating (just instead of ghee), so you can try that as well.
